Bembridge House works to be ADA inclusive

At the Bembridge House, a property stewarded by Long Beach Heritage, we’re proud to have taken steps toward making this historic home more welcoming to everyone. Thanks to grant funding early last year, we installed a new access ramp — ensuring more of our community can enjoy the beauty and history of this Long Beach treasure.

Special recognition went to Sheila Gibbons, Vice President of the Bembridge House, and Alan Giomi, who were honored as Disability Advocates of the Year for their dedication to completing the fundraising, design, and installation of these accessibility improvements on behalf of Long Beach Heritage.

We also captured a special moment when Jennifer Kumiyama, Citywide Accessibility Coordinator at the City of Long Beach, and Julie Dean became the very first to test out the new ramp and restroom — a meaningful milestone for all involved.

Because history belongs to everyone.
