Honoring Loved Ones at the Bembridge House Día de los Muertos Celebration

Thank you to everyone who joined us in honoring loved ones, sharing stories, and celebrating this vibrant tradition at the historic Bembridge House. The colorful gathering brought our community together in remembrance and joy, filling the gardens with music, altars, and heartfelt connections.

This special event was hosted by Jacquline Padilla-Perez, Long Beach Heritage, the Willmore City Community Association, and Councilwoman Mary Zendejas, with generous sponsorship from Grocery Outlet, who kindly donated 75 gift cards for attendees. The Willmore City Community Association shared the gift of literacy by giving away children’s books, while Councilwoman Mary Zendejas provided helpful community resources and promoted the upcoming District 1 Aquarium Night.

Families enjoyed a day of fun in the garden and aviary—now home to new feathered friends—as children painted sugar skulls, decorated picture frames, and had their faces painted. Guests sipped on coffee and lemonade, nibbled on cookies, and spent time together under the autumn sun.

A heartfelt thank-you also goes out to our wonderful volunteers, whose dedication and hard work made the day so memorable. Your efforts keep community traditions like this alive and thriving.
